Hopefully in the working days to follow (eg Friday 2 January 2015) the young woman and perhaps for support the grandparent, will go along to a local authority or non-government agency who deals with homelessness and get advice and assistance which is both practical and relevant to her individual circumstances. If it was me, I would have my list of contacts/addresses ready now and walk or catch a lift or bike/bus/train to wherever by 8.30 in the morning I would be outside the door waiting to see someone. That is the best way forward. Shelter can offer advice and if they have an office they can give local knowledge. The fact she is under 25 means she remains on low wages and may need to do very long hours to pay any kind of rent anywhere. If they are not up for banging on doors etc at agencies, then nothing will change. It is a sad reality, but there are heaps of young people in this situation in our country. The ones who get the support are the ones who can access services - that I would suggest is the first step.Remember when you judge someone, it does not define them ... You define yourself :j0
