Hi,
My partner and I are thinking of moving to Milton Keynes and are considering Walnut Tree, Kents Hill or Westcroft.
Is there anyone who lives around Milton Keynes who could give some pros and cons of where to live?

Lots of roundabouts!
I used to live in Wolverton Mill, which was nice and quiet. You have the main city centre and then lots of smaller village type places around it. There are quite a few head offices and large distribution centres there, so I expect there would be a greater chance of finding a good job. I used to work at Audi VW head office which was a really nice job.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -

MK estates with twisty roads are OK, estates with straight roads on a grid patterns are chavvy0

The general rule is that the closer you are to the centre, the worse the area is but it depends onwhat yyou're looking for. MK has loads going for it in terms of things to do, things for the kids etc. The roads are really good and once you're used to the roundabouts the system works really well, not many traffic jams as there are 6 different routes to the same place.
There are good parts and bad, but if you have a car there are loads of lovely villages just outside of MK.0 -
Don't live in MK but close by. Really good and has all you need and more. Always our first choice for shopping or eating our. We don't tend to go to the shopping centre as there is so much choice around the town. The shopping centre is great though.0

Move up the road to Northamptonshire, if you don't want to live in Northampton itself, there are a lot of nice villages surrounding it. 20-30 minute drive to MK and houses are roughly 20-30% cheaper too.
Don't get me wrong, I like MK, go to the shopping center and the Ikea quite frequently, but there are cheaper places to live in the area that could be considered.0 -
We moved to a village outside MK as our forever house - turned out to be our for never house, but thats another story!!!
As mentioned, lots of alternative places not actually in the centre, depending on your needs.
But for shopping and entertainment for both adults and families, I think the place really works well.
Biggest Asda in europe and a large Ikea, what more could anyone ask for?

I live in Bletchley, moving very soon though, mk is a strange place, half of it is a shanty town of the cheapest blocks of council houses, like boxes, with front gardens full of old mattresses, and the other is very nice streets of modern houses. Hidden away amounst all this are the original old farmhouses, and cottages. Places like the lakes estate are rough as a goats knee, don't go there.0
