Laptop on finance
Hi everyone
I posted a thread a while back about getting a mac book pro on finance and working out the costs etc i just don't think itll be sensible to do so. At the time i had a laptop that was working fine.
However im coming up to uni exams and the laptop that was working fine has just broken! I just don't have the cash to buy a laptop out right
I really need to get a laptop to get my essays done etc.
Finance is my only option at the moment but i dont know very much about getting laptops on finance. Whats the best website to do so i'd rather go for one which gives you an immediate decision wether you can have it or not.
Is there really such a thing as 'no credit check' places where they don't check it?
thanks in advance

How is it broken - could you fit a dongle - get your essays done the print them off somewhere else/0

How about the January sales for a notebook style - in the sales I see one can be picked up for £199 at the mo
Other option is somewhere like cash converters - you can make down payments in store only if can't afford to pay in one go before taking the laptop away though it does become reserved straight away
I'm feeling for you as just arranged to rent a medical machine for SAD after a Google and not had half the checks as if it was for finance in buying a laptop - could hardly believe it!0 -
what is your credit report like? do you have an income (apart from student income)? How much are you currently saving each month? (often people will be puting nothing into savings but somehow assume they have enough income to pay a loan)0

You'll probably struggle to get accepted if you aren't employed as well as being a student. There's always the option of putting it on a credit card, but I wouldn't recommend it as you'll just likely not pay it off as soon as you should.
You're unlikely to get any 0% finance, the best you might get is with PC World/Currys. They allow you to do a Buy-Now-Pay-Later that lasts 6 months and only costs you an extra £25. You'd be better off doing something like that, getting a £200-300 laptop to tide you over until the end of the academic year. For the love of god, please make sure you pay it off before the BNPL period ends.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -
Hi,
Have you checked with your university to see if they loan out laptops, I've done a undergrad and a masters at different unis and they have both had laptop loaning schemes they were both set up in the library
As others have said look in the sales to see if there are any chromebook/notebooks going cheap if money is an issue speak to the finance team to see if there are any options do you get a student loan? Isn't the loan date soon??
Good luck if all else fails try and get the essays etc onto a memory stick and itll be late nights in the uni librarys :rotfl:Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada  :dance:0 -
why not buy a cheap computer or laptop of gumtree for about £100Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Yes thankyou i do have an income along side my uni. All my wages goes on paying rent and paying off my student loans. I work for minimum wage in a resteraunt but it gives me the extra money i need. all i can afford at the moment is to put 80 pounds a month into my savings but at least i am doing it0 -
