  • Mmmm, I am loving that actually what is at play is that we all know how to rock a good time. We enjoy and savour good company, or enjoy and savour a meal well cooked..... and no washing up :D;) or enjoy and savour a simple meal of what we like to eat, cooked well and devoured :D You could have all the cristal, caviar and cheffiness in the world, and yet if you're not in the mindset to make the most of the moment...... :D

And as to the rugger....... well, it behoves any professional player of the game to do their best at all times. Accidents can be prevented by thoughtful play, but they do sometimes happen. There is no place for cynicism in the game. Full stop. However, with 2 touch judges and the services of a third match official (TMO), let us hope that certain referees are not allowed to be in charge of first tier games, until they have upped their level of professionalism. There were too many mistakes that penalised both sides. Well Played Wales. Well Played Scotland - thank you both for an excellent game - on the whole - of rugger.

I have been darning socks :( I know how to live :)

I have not found pairs of socks that surpass the walking socks that I got from Aldee eons ago. Trouble is, I am now darning darns! Why is it so hard to get decent socks for ladies. Blokes have plenty of choice at reasonable prices. Ladies socks have no elastic, are always pink or purple and never stay up! Humpf!

Must grow bigger feet I guess :o

GP - have a look at boy's hiking socks - I recently bought a two pack of burgandy tweed ones - proper elastic and decently thick! - and half the price of the men's ones! (Leedl's has them periodically.)

(Though I have to admit to owning a couple of pairs of the pink one's too - lovely wool, well worn & well darned!:o)

Hey GP - great posts as always.

Thinking about your last post on charity shops, we have a few in my town and two Cancer Research ones next to each other. One is the £3 and under shop, the other where all the rich (and thin!) people send their cast offs. I've bought nice nearly-new things in there before but it seemed like I paid a bit extra for the pre-selection. But yeah, mostly I see nice dresses I don't stand a chance of getting into in there.

It surprises me that very, very worn things are being sold as they are. I will put worn stuff in rag bags for the charity myself, but my understanding was that they went on to make donkey jackets if they were too worn. Maybe times have changed?

My OH is colourblind and keeps nicking my purple and pink and black socks to wear and putting holes in them with his enormous sharp-nailed second toe!

    Right click over the image.
One of the options is "copy image location"
Paste into Go*gle (other search engines are available)
You can then use as you want.

    Does that make sense?

I seem to blink and miss about 100 posts you chatty lot :)

The rugby was a sore one. If nothing else officials need to be up to standard for the safety of all the players. I'm impressed with how well so far the players have responded to questions on the officials and haven't solely blamed them for their loss which would have been the cowards way out.

With you in mind GP I had a clear out of clothes. It happened after I went in to the boot of my car and found items I'd forgotten I owned in a bag... I was mortified! So a bin bag and a carrier bag full of clothes went to new homes.

Your Valentine's meal looked lovely. We had meat balls which only needed us to buy in tinned tomatoes and fresh basil the rest we had. (If we had been at my house I have tinned tomatoes... haha!).

Feeling pretty pleased with myself as over the weekend the opportunity to go skiing arose. I politely declined and when asked why I explained I couldn't afford it and didn't want to owe anyone who was willing to pay for me. Everyone was very accepting of this and nobody tried to force the matter which made me feel quite happy about being brave!

Hope everyone has had a good day :)

  • Hi GP

Well we've been making delicious pizzas. Time was a bit short so we bought pizza dough mix. I know , but it really was a time saver.

I feel sure theres a recipe somewhere for a similar mix where we can just add water. I Found Jamie's 30 minute cheats pizza - done in the pan and under the grill and it using sr flour and water for the base. Quite like that, but if memory serves right Jack also has a recipe. Off to look.
