.....next week is our holiday club and I'm in charge of the whistle!! :rotfl:
:T:T YAY! for Women in Charge of the Whistle :T:T
I bet you're Firm, Fair and Fun when you're in charge starnac!Bet the kids have an ace time
Well, it would appear that rather than die a dramatic death like the last kettle (pop! flash! whiff of smoke!), this kettle is intent on dragging out its demise. I thought it odd last night, when it just apparently started up again, after having boiled (as I thought). I've just gone to use it now and it and it switched itself off after a while - but before it had boiled iyswim. *sigh* I'm sure it hasn't lasted long - under a year. More mrT *carp*. Humpf!
I should be passing mrS today, so I need to pop in to get some t-bags, to keep DP happy. I'll get a load (use the basics) as I'm afraid mrS is the supermercado I use the least. It doesn't help that it is the least accessible, and for the vast majority of stuff that I buy, it never comes out the cheapest - current exceptions are t-bags and the hard cheese, but as we know, I've bought some now, for 20p moreStill, we weren't going in that direction, so the fuel would cost more than the saving in that instance.
Actually, come to think of it, I should look at their kettles shouldn't I? I'm not having the hassle of looking out the receipt for the kettle I have (not sure I have it anyway) and battling for a replacement. Although haven't mrT changed their policy on returns for electrical items now? It used to be you couldn't take it 'instore' you had to deal with a third party. I've got the notion that has changed back to being able to take it back instore. Thinking of electrical *carp*, I forgot to mention that I have ditched (into the recycling centre) that *mini chopper* - that had the affiliation to St. Delia of the copper pans (but bought from mrT) - and that screeched like Violet Elizabeth Bott whenever you pressed the *on* button! After using it..... oooh, 6 maybe 7 times? It gave up the ghost and the blade stopped turning. Funnily enough, a few days after it was out of the 1 yr guarantee that came with it. £2 per use? pfffftttt!!!!!!!
Right, well, I've wittered on enough. Yet again!
Thanks for popping by, reading, looking at the illustrations and joining inMucho appreciated. Mucho
See y'all later.

Hello GP
I've had Morfy Richards for a few years and they have always lasted well. The first may have been from their website - it was the whistling range - the second was from fleabay.
I bought my new one from Arsda. It's a bosh and I love it. Was on offer at the time and I think was a pound more than a similar one, but definitely worth it. Just feels more substantial.

Ta supersaver, I'll have a look what our mrS have got. According to their website, S stock that kettle, unfortunately for £5 more than A
See what I mean about S always being too expensive for what I want to purchase?
And even if I could swing by our mrA, I very much doubt they would stock that kettle. Their homewares section is near to useless, wish they'd ditch it and just concentrate on food. But no, they have to be all things to all potential customers I guess......
Have a great day everyone.

I no longer use a kettle but a quick cup thing from tefa1. So much more fuel efficient if single cups are made regularly. Plus, to quote DS, it speeds up the super noodle process!Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. random poster alert: my kettle advice (being the daughter of a kettle aficionado) is to get one without a cup/max/min window on it - these are the weakest link in most modern electric kettles and you can measure in the amount of water you need using your tea-pot or cups + a bit more for steam. my last kettle lasted 15 years and the current one was under 10 of our british pounds and is 3 years old and going strong (aware this is the kiss of death to current kettle). the only difficulty is finding one.:AA/give up smoking (done)0

Good Evening :hello:random poster alert: my kettle advice (being the daughter of a kettle aficionado) is to get one without a cup/max/min window on it - these are the weakest link in most modern electric kettles ......
ah.......
Well, as it happens, the best laid plans of meeces and greyings don't always come to fruitionI didn't get into mrS today, and had to contend with mrA instead. As predicted, their choice was very limited - unless you were happy to buy an 'A$da' kettle. I think they had one MR, one Ph1l1ps and that was about it for 'choice'. So, I actually stuck with what I had in mind I was going to get from S, which was a cheap and cheerful plackie job, that cost £12 (same in mrS), and I figure if it lasts a year, then I'm ahead. As it happens, it does come with a 2 year guarantee - which my gabberwasflasted at, quite frankly - because I was thinking I might have been better off with the MR, as that was £25, but also had a 2 yr guarantee. I figured the one I bought would only have a 1 yr guarantee. Anyway, I realise that I'm not being savvy, and I'm playing into the 12 pairs of trainers a year or 1 decent set of leather shoes conundrum..... but I figure that I only look for kettles when ours goes kaput. So instead, I've got something that will 'do' - even if it does get a bit 'violent' as it gets towards boiling - WHY??? And I'll now start looking to see what is actually available, and whether paying more for a kettle, will, in fact, get me a better 'deal'. I suspect a kettle without a window can be found on the 'rarer than hen's teeth' website.... :rotfl: BUT, I shall look! lobbyludd, thanks for the tip
INOD - if I only made hot drinks, I would consider one of those machines - and the noodly cooking is an added bonus! However, I boil the kettle to cook anything, especially in the pressure cooker
DP has just come moithering about a really obscure topic. WHY? :rotfl:
I'm glad today is done and dusted I think. I'll have an early night and hope that I can approach tomorrow in a different set of mind
Dinner this evening was......... interesting. It was quick to prepare! But......... mmmmm. I don't know whether I should have bailed out and made something else (wasn't in the right frame of mind) and that it really is warm weather food - although you are implored to 'boil' the soup - which I think is a mistake and I didn't do. But, well, it just didn't really excite me. I made Pineapple, lime and ginger soup. I used mrT EDV pineapple chunks - which come in syrup, so I drained and rinsed them. I use red chilli rather than green, as that was all that I had. I didn't have a tomato, so didn't include that and I only used the juice of 1 lime which was about right - and I see someone has made a similar comment about too much lime. I didn't do the tadka at the end, as I couldn't be botheredand because I was thoroughly underwhelmed with the soup as it stood (told you I had a grump on, didn't I?), I decided to add the little block of frozen coconut milk that I had left in the freezer - it would have been no more than 50ml. This did make enough of a difference, and made me think that the soup would be OK, on a hot day and served either chilled, or at no more than room temp. DP thought that it could be quite refreshing made into a sorbet/granita
The label on the tin got wet. I opened it upside down to 'ponce' in a pic, but was a bit reckless with me swilling out
I suppose, if I had the ingredients again, and we wanted something light on a hot day, I would make this soup again. I didn't serve rolls/flatbread or roti with it, as we'd both had sangers for snap (bad planning) and I didn't want more wheat. But I was looking at some caribbean bread recipes last night that I quite fancied a bash at, so maybe...... And to be fair, it is a cheap and cheerful thing to make. I think the pineapple was about 35p iirc - the lime 25p and the other ingredients pennies.....
I forgot to add, before I put the coconut milk in, I did think that the soup as it was, would actually be quite nice if you were bunged up with a cold, and wanted something light, zesty and refreshing - it had the notion of 'hot fruit squash' about it - which I suppose is what it is really. But it did have the 'medicinal' quality about it before the coconut rounded it out and brought depth and sweetness imho
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
perseverance
comfortable shoes
DP showing interest and support - must go and have a chat with him, see if we can look at something he was on about....
Thanks for popping in and contributing. Always appreciated. Always.
See y'all later.
