I often bid on things in the USA, and then switch my address to my friends address for delivery address. I pay through PayPal as normal and my friend keeps it for me when I go visit. It must seem odd to the seller, but I guess 'Romania' arouses suspicion. Just make sure you have the money safely deposited in the account before sending..

Without wanting to hijack this thread and I know soolin wouldn't take this advice……the bit in bold……..have a read of the sticky on postage. Making sure you have the money 'safely' in your account means nothing if you've not followed seller protection rules.

Absolutely, the money is sitting in my PayPal account and status is 'OK to send', that is not something I would ever overlook whatever the price of the item.

It was the exceedingly high feedback that intrigued me, I was convinced it was a drop shipping company and was surprised when it turned out to be a family home address.

Item is going this morning a day earlier than my shipping estimate , and I am extremely pleased with the money it made as its been sitting in storage for years and nearly went out with the charity shop stuff as I couldn't find anything else like it when I did a google check and it is a very insignificant item.

We're talking about an item worth 300 pennies and you want to do your best Columbo impression...get a grip.

Post the item and stop being so paranoid, it's none of your business what connection the buyer has with the person at the delivery address.

read the posts properly; it''s 40 quid not 3. It takes a few seconds to ask a question and read a reply, you are wide of the mark.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

One persons junk, another persons treasure.:)

This has been a very good example of that This must be something that has value to someone, rather than an item that is valuable in itself (if you see what I mean). If it had been say jewellery it might well have been a case that I mistook paste for a diamond, but this is a basic solid item, nothing fancy, nothing particularly strange about it- but old. perhaps someone buying a memory from their youth.

  • I thought that if you post to an address other then the PayPal verified address you are NOT covered by PayPal. Therefore the user can state they did not receive the item (even if you have tracking information it is to the wrong address!) and obtain a refund. Doesn't matter if you have the money already etc - PayPal will simply withdraw it from your account.

The fact that a £3 item sold for that much more should ring alarm bells straight away.
Post to the PayPal address only, so that you are covered with PayPals Seller Protection policies.

Might I suggest that you read the thread carefully, I do thank you for your concern but am well aware of the PayPal protection rules which is why I have stated clearly that I have sent the item tracked to the PayPal address which is the UK one.

    Apologies!
As long as you have tracking information showing successful delivery to the UK registered address listed in PayPal you are fine and covered by seller protection.
    Well done on the sale!

    Thank you.

I am actually also safe merely with proof of postage should any claim be made for fraudulent use of a card or bank account. In fact I have recently defended such a claim from a US buyer on a £22 item that was sent stands airmail and untracked.

Have a read of the postage sticky thread, it is all explained in there.

That is strange and whilst they say 'it's not a laptop', neither is a real chromebook, but they have titled as a Chromebook and listed with chromebooks/laptops catagory

    = Clearly mis-leading

= Spells trouble for the buyer AND SELLER
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?
