Repainting a 2 bed flat - Best place for paint supplies and kitchen tiles

Options
Hi all,

I'm currently having the property decorated and my painter starts on Tuesday 30th December. I am providing the paint and my decorator suggested I buy the paint from Wickes but he had no preference over brand or type.

Before I buy, I hoped the MSE crew could advise on the best place to buy paint supplies and if anyone is aware of any special deals.

I'm in SE London / Dartford and looking to buy roughly 40 litres.
Probably 20 litres white, 20l magnolia.

I also need to buy some kitchen splashback tiles. Preference is the glossed black brickwork look. Any pointers on where to find these?

Best.

  • Others will have their preferences but I like Brewers or Johnstone for paint and Tile Giant for tiles.

I'd go to brewers for paint, glidden or leyland trade for white or magnolia emulsions, johnstones for other colours and gloss.
  • Thank you.

I visited both Brewers and Johnstone's websites but they do not have prices for their paint listed.

Can anyone advise on the price point for say, a 10 litre white emulsion paint from any of the above-mentioned brands/

Best to give them a call, they're set up for trade (always worth asking for a discount) or if they're near enough pop in to see as they have changing offers.

All I will say is don't compare the price with what they sell in the sheds as it isn't the same stuff. My OH doubted me on this until he picked up magnolia by mistake and didn't realise until we were on site so had to get some Dulux white from B&Q - he then proceeded to moan about how runny it was and what poor coverage it gave...

leyland trade and glidden magnolia and white emulsions tend to be around £15 for 10litres, brewers often have 2 for £20 though.
Screwfix also stock the leyland emulsion.
