i have connected my external hard drive to my home hub which i can access my files via my laptop.
Please can you explain how i access the files via my smart phone.

A file explorer would do. e.g. assuming Android

I don't think you can password protect if it's plugged into a Home Hub it's set to share it to everyone on the network.Laters
