Afternoon everyone and what a bright sunny one it is:j it doesn't seem to be melting the snow though . We live on a steep hill and DH is trying to get my car onto the main road so I can get to work to tomorrow bless him

I've had quite a productive day . I had a lot of spare veg as the farm shop were very generous , so I've blanched a load of sprouts and carrots , made roast potatoes and parsnips all portioned and tucked into the freezer , made a potato and parsnip soup for lunch with HM rolls. In the process of making a ham and turkey pie for dinner and a little pie for my mum to take home with her and a white loaf for tomorrow

Going to sit and relax this afternoon :T

Have a good day everyone xx

    Afternoon All

Hope you have all had a fab Christmas, HH, what a lovely gift. I had one when they first came out but it distorted all the photos so we all looked a little short and fat!

Managed to get the car out yesterday from our friends in Yorkshire, the snow was quite deep and it was a little hairy trying to get to the main road but we made it after a couple of attempts. Clear run to Preston where we met up with Aunt, Cousin and family. Haven't seen the Cousin and family for years but we all went for a meal and it was lovely, like we saw each other all the time. The traffic was bad for a while on the M6 but once it cleared we made good time.

Good to be home but just sorting out, laundry to be done, etc. Friends coming for dinner tonight and I am away again on Tuesday. Just shopped for the bare minimum. DS2 is going to Iceland on Tuesday for a holiday and DD and I are going to his house in The Netherlands for a couple of days. Been good seeing DS2 and we have all had a relaxing time, DD is at work today.

Had a bit of a surprise yesterday when I got home, there were some Christmas cards waiting and one was from DS1, not heard from him for over a year (strange GF) and it even had his new address in. I think I will wait till I come back and send a new house card, see how it goes.

Anyway, enjoy Sunday (seems like we have had loads of Sundays!). Take care. XX

DD had an 'experience' this morning and when she came back indoors from putting something into the dustbin she said I heard Badger pitter pat across the patio behind me and jump over the doorstep and walk across the kitchen! Badger was our old Border Terrier who lived to 16 years old and we lost him 13 years ago. I often hear him jingle downstairs and come to stand by my armchair, I know it's not Docky as he doesn't wear a collar with a tag on, I love it, luckily so did she!!! He still loves us enough to stay which is so lovely.
Oh how super! :T It's really great when they re-visit us like that, isn't it?:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • No snow here, but we did have a hard frost last night.

Retromother I know what you mean, but luckily we haven't had ours on much down sarf, I prefer the stove to the main heating which has saved us money this year, yes it was a big expense having it installed, but well worth it.

Went to the watermill this morning after dropping DD off at work, and had a nice morning browsing, I did get some new cake decs for next Christmas all half price, but nothing else, nothing there that I really needed or wanted as DH said they will only go up in the loft and come out for a couple of weeks next year and we have all we need so why waste money, which is true. The new cake decs I needed because mine have seen better days.

We popped in to see the outlaws on the way back because they had left the dog food and treats in the car when DH took them home on Christmas day.

Lamb for dinner tonight and I will turn the left overs into a curry for tomorrow.

DD should be home soon so I really must get a shift on and put the tatties in the oven.

  • Evening!

Weather is very cold here on the East Coast...(I have turned the storage heater up one notch for tonight).

Mum and I are planning to go to the local shops tomorrow (disability for me...old age for her...we do tend to plan our shopping trips....'big' supermarket trips are done thanks to a lovely friend with a car - not only is mobility an issue...we are somewhat isolated.....all of which helps with saving pennies...less shopping = less spending!)

So - I have also been planning some meals - My freezer was almost cleared out - jut about ready to start re-stocking....so I will be slow-cooking some casseroles and stews....( and some individual sponge cakes!)

And I am getting ready to try those stupid double-pointed needles again! I WILL master then in the coming year!
  • MIL has bought me the fluffiest dressing gown for xmas, so I've got into that and sat in bed. With the electric heater on!

Went out to I**a with DD who drove us there this morning and got lots of stuff for her new house. She goes back tonight but it has been lovely to have her here for a few days.

Youngest is busy doing coursework and an essay so stayed home while lamb was cooking in oven and another DD peeled potatoes and mixed batter so all I had to do was prepare veg etc.

DH is getting much better at trying to eat a bit more and trying more chunky food and has found he loves Christmas pudding and custard so I nipped to the shops and bought another one at half price :j

Hoping to convince DH to venture out to the cinema in Leeds this week to see "Exodus" which will make him feel a bit more himself and less of an invalid.

    Hugs to all
