Maybe the seller should be required to leave feedback rating how good a payer the buyer is? ...
Ebay could do this automatically by adding an average pay time to users' profiles, although it would cost them.

I totally agree that it is entirely fair for the seller to be forced to leave a feed back as soon as they get their money as a prompt payment is what they are expecting from the buyer. This would leave the buyer free to really leave a meaningful feedback without fear from retaliation.
But what if the buyer is an awkward customer and therefore writes an undeserving negative feedback of their seller?

I still think that the best way would be that feedback messages were only shown when both parties have left theirs.

I like the idea of that.....but the point of the seller leaving feedback is how the buyer completes the transaction, not how much they whinge and moan afterwards. If the payment is fast, they have completed their end of the contract. Hard not to leave +ve feedback for someone then. If they complain afterwards and leave a -ve, you can always reply with an explanation.

I think you should move on from this unfortunate experience.

Leave some good feedback for the buyer. This shows that you are are a reasonable person and good to trade with.

Then after a month or two, go back in with a second user account and buy one of their items and trash their good feedback rating with a negative.....

    That'll teach them !!

    I wouldn't possibly dream of doing that !.. honest !! :A
