UKPC Disabled Parking Charge (please read)

Options
Hello,

Firstly thank you in advance for any help/advice given! Earlier on tonight I took my elderly grandad out for a meal at a local restaurant (he is registered disabled and has a blue badge, but in his car he was going to bring it but he forgot) so when we arrived there was spots miles away from the restaurants but since the ground is icy and it was cold I didn't want him walking and risking slipping since he uses a walking stick and ended up going in a disabled spot not thinking about getting a fine just not wanting him to get hurt.

But when I came out there was a charge for £90 or £50 if paid in 14 days, he feels terrible and wants to pay it himself since I can't afford to as I'm a student but since the pension he gets isn't really a lot I don't want him to pay for this.

I've read the newbie forums but they're quite confusing to understand, a few other forums say to completely ignore it and all the letters that come after!

What should I do as I'm panicking as I can't afford it, it would mean me not going food shopping for over a week, my grandad I don't want him paying it and I don't want to go begging to extended family for the money.

Please help someone :)

Matthew

wait for the NTK and appeal it, which if you had read the newbies sticky thread you would know, seeing as it has a flowchart and I am sure a student could follow the info in that thread, and a flowchart too !

the BB isnt valid on private land and it tells him this in the blue booklet , but if he has protected characteristics under the EA2010 then those spaces are for him anyway, badge or no badge, so complain to the landowner and get the invoice cancelled asap ( otherwise they are breaking the EA 2010 - so threaten them with legal action of your own - from your grandad)

only a fool would ignore this if in england or wales as the advice changed over 2 years ago, appeal, not ignore - so read that NEWBIES sticky thread, 2 down from the green banner

ps:- this thread here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5049715 explains about disabled parking bays on private land, for those with or without a blue badge, so if those people qualify under the EA 2010 , like your registered disabled grandad, then he has done nothing wrong and when the NTK appeal goes in you also send in a scan or photocopy of this BB, if they dont cancel you appeal it further and also complain to the BPA about it

the BB cannot apply to some people who dont have a BB, but the EA2010 law says ALL such qualified people are covered and that no badges are necessary (Equality Act 2010)

he is covered as he has a BB and is registered disabled , so you act in his interest, not some jumped up PPC , the law trumps any petty rules

They are wrong or they are OLD threads. Current advice is easy! Appeal when you get the first letter next month! Read the Newbies thread again, hardly rocket science to wait for the NTK then copy & paste the appeal I have written for you. If you are that worried then pay a fiver for a private parking appeals firm to send a strong appeal for you (but then I am connected to such a firm so can't tell you here on MSE who they are)! Other posters could, or look on the Parking Cowboys website.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
