Family holiday at Easter to Majorca?

Just looked at teletext holidays. I found a holiday in a 2 bedroom apartment in a family resort in Majorca on 1st jan. It includes hand luggage with Ryan air and transfers to the apartment.

Has anyone booked with teletext before. They quoted me £850 for the week and it seems too good to be true.

I don't care where we go really as long as there is a beach and a few shops.

  • What is the Hotel Name and have you tried to price up the exact holiday yourself?

Do you take these with a pinch of salt or do you ignore and see what happens?

    I've never used them before
  • That puts me off a bit but I have no idea which is a reliable holiday company.
  • It's Cala d'or playa apartments
Will look for it in other sites

I know what you mean......I really don't know what to suggest for the best. I've tried searching on Tripadvisor for Ceefax/Teletext, couldn't bring up any new/recent info.

    I just found this

I'm sorry I'm not really being helpful.
  • Tried booking the apartment alone on it's own site but they aren't taking bookings/have no rooms for that number of people
  • This is why we haven't been on holiday abroad for the last 5 years.

Which would ring alarm bells for me.

    So lets start from scratch:

    Type holiday?
    How many people
    Self Catering/Half Board/AI
    Dates
    Budget

Don't give up at your first stumbling block!
  • Also why don't you try booking a package via another reputable firm, like Thomsons, Thomas Cook, CoOp, they are the best of the bad.

Teletext don't really have a great reputation on this forum, but it's worth bearing in mind that Teletext are a bit of a price comparison site (like Travel Supermarket or Ice Lolly) who sell other companies holidays rather than their own.

The main issue with the prices you see is that they are not necessarily 'live' prices. The flights and hotel prices will be automatically loaded into the system /website every 24hours or so, and between updates you usually find that flight prices change. (Room availability is sometimes loaded a bit differently and therefore is more accurate and the biggest issues are usually that you book and then receive a call the following day with an increase in flight prices.)

I wouldn't panic too much if the hotel isn't showing any availability for your room type, it could just be that they have contracted those rooms out to another operator / supplier and they don't sell them directly.

I would suggest looking on ryanair at the flights and booking them direct with ryanair, and then look at someone else for the hotel /apartments such as booking.com, travel republic, sunshine.co.uk, hotels4u etc. You can usually book airport transfers with the same company as you book your hotel but if you want to save more money then look at resorthoppa or airporttransfers.co.uk as they usually have good prices.

The price seems pretty good so if you can get it for that price by booking seperately I would say go for it.

  • Ok. I am looking in March 30th-10th April, don't care where we go, budget as cheap as possible, don't mind if it's not hot, as long as it's warmer than here. 2adults, 3children aged4-7. Travel from Manchester, East Midlands, Leeds, Doncaster. I don't mind booking flights separately but bit worried about that.

I have tried to book before but get overwhelmed by choice so haven't booked.

We are used to travelling light and only need a pool, beach and food shops to be happy.

Any ideas, I would be so grateful
