So they can't force me to do it anyway? I'm happy to send them the one I've done myself, I just don't want to have to list everything over the phone. I'm not overly comfortable with them going through my finances as it is but if it makes it easier to get them to agree to an amount so be it.
So email? Am I best sending a recorded letter of the same thing too or is it not needed?
It was difficult to do the form anyway as I'm a student so my main income is paid in 3 installments through the year, then I have child related bits on top. The one online was definitely simplest as it included student finance payments in the maths...27/12/2014 - debts totalling £3315 approx

OP, forget the phone, forget the email.
All correspondence with these people needs to be in writing.
The reasons for this are so you have a record of what has been said, and agreed.
Never mind what the bloke on the phone told you, this is precisely why you never phone a DCA, they work to there own agenda, not yours.

As far as I was aware an email was in writing. I don't see how there's more of a record of what's said in a letter than there is in an email? I'd prefer to email in addition to normal letters if it works the same being honest, as it removes the worry of trusting royal mail not to lose letters.
One way or another I need to contact them in some form before tomorrow anyway as I can't sit and miss the date in case they ring back.27/12/2014 - debts totalling £3315 approx

The date is meaningless. They just telll you that to scare you.
nothing will happen if you miss the "deadline".
Just write, they can pretend they never recieved an email and a paper trail is always best.0 -
It isn't meaningless, not to me. I'm not willing to miss the date, it isn't worth how unsettled it'd cause me to become. I'll ring them in the morning to discuss proceeding if emailing's so bad as to refuse to do it. I refuse to miss the agreed date, it'll do me more harm than good personally to do so.27/12/2014 - debts totalling £3315 approx

OP you should take the advice you have been given, by doing the above you are just playing the DCA `s game, block there number on your phone, or just ignore there calls completely, you really need to heed advice on how to deal with these people or you could end up in a lot worse trouble.
Together we have got years of experience in dealing with debt collection agencies on this forum, we do know what we are talking about, mostly.
They set these meaningless deadlines in order to scare the debtor into contacting them, its just another way of getting you to pay more than you can afford, remember these are sales people, who`s only goal is to make money from you, end of, thats all there bothered about, you have to know how to deal with them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I NEED to contact them by tomorrow. It isn't as easy as just listening to advise, I don't care whether email or by phone but a letter won't reach them by then. I'm not just being difficult for the sake of it, it genuinely isn't worth the damage it'll do to my mental wellbeing over the next few days to leave it and force myself to wait for a reply to a letter. At the very least I need to speak to them by then to inform them I'm writing so they know I've not just ignored it.
Ignoring calls doesn't help, not one bit. Getting the calls leaves me unable to eat, sleep or leave the house. I can't block them on my phone. You may have experience with the debt collection agencies, but not with my individualised mental illness. I appreciate the advise given that would be practical for me, and will be insisting on using the form I have filled out, but cannot wait and just send a letter. That's entirely unpractical for me.27/12/2014 - debts totalling £3315 approx

Ok, for your own well-being, if you must phone them, do so, but don't allow them to bully you, advise whoever you speak to, that you have mental health issues, and they are not helping your condition, they are obliged to deal with you appropriately once notified.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I'm going to give them a ring and just tell them I've written to them and they'll be receiving it within the next few days. I don't THINK there'll be much to bully with in that case, especially if I refuse to discuss figures with them. Are there any templates anywhere for sending the initial letters? I obviously don't want to trip myself up by getting that bit wrong27/12/2014 - debts totalling £3315 approx

Just send the income/expenditure that you have worked out, and write "as requested" at the top. Thats it really, you could add the following sentence :
"Please note, for the avoidance of doubt, I will no longer answer your phone calls, from now on I request all future communication with you to be in writing only".
regards
