Prepaid Meter to Direct Debit
Options
I have just done a application on here to Co-Op energy. So its direct debit, at the moment the house is on a prepaid meter as I have moved into this house just recently.
But im wanting to know who changes the meters for gas and electric instead of prepaid meter, i want them out and i want the original meters in.

Your energy supplier arranges for the meters to be exchange but they are under no legal obligation to do so and it will depend on a number of criteria including you passing a credit check. They will also typically charge you about £65 per meter. If it's a rented property you may have to pay to get them swapped back when you move out depending on the terms of the lease.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

All the information you need is already here on MSE. Read the whole page .
As far as I know only British Gas, EDF and EON will change meters for free. Contact Co-op Energy and ask them before your 14 day cooling off period ends. Try negotiating with them but if they agree get it in writing .
In future I suggest that you do your research first before committing to a switch .0 -

The way you phrase it perhaps?0 -
It was not meant to sound that way at all .
The OP though a newbie has had the info he requested at hand on the top bar under Utilities-Phones and in the Sticky Thread he would have seen before posting . Inspite of that I gave the info he requested .
He already stated he did the switch on MSE he could have found this information quite easily .0
