Printers

I'm looking to buy a new printer as my old Epsom is not compatible with Windows 8.

I see lots in the sale but they do not mention if they are compatible or not. Does anyone recommend a simple all in one that does basic printing.

Sorry , but what is your current Epson model and is it wireless or USB or even parallel.... You want "basic printing" most from the last 8 years will do that even with Windows 8

I've got a Canon MG5550. Very happy with it, Windows 8 compatible.
  • My current printer is an Epsom SX420W. I had all sorts of problems getting it to function with windows 8.

My old windows 7 was no problem, when a document needed printing you simply selected it and it printed it out. Now I get all orts of on screen messages telling me it is not compatible to do this function. Same when installing it, it allowed so much to be absorbed then said it could not install the printer.
I did go online but there seems so much against it installing as there is for it. The printer is about 8-9 years old and was first purchased when I purchased a desktop for the new windows XP.
  • It's always worth Googling printer compatibility issues as there is often a workaround.

I've just upgraded from XP to 8.1 and thought that my Canon BJC-210 which has served me well since about 1998 would have to be binned, but no, I searched about and discovered that the drivers for the BJC-240 (still available on the Canon website) would do the trick and hey-presto, old printer is back up and running on Windows 8.1
