Hello All,
I'm looking to sell something on Amazon for the first time.
I have a MacBook Pro with a RRP of about £2000 and looking to sell it on Amazon for £1899.
Will be selling as a private seller and the bit I can't understand how the VAT will come into picture here.
Can someone suggest what I received in bank after selling this item after all the deductions.
Many thanks for your help.

If you go to list it on Amazon it should put a page up telling you your exact fees, with Amazon that will be all the fees charged.Hello All,

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking about VAT, if you aren't registered, you won't be charging it. Amazon will charge VAT on their fees but they should show them all inclusive..0 -
On £1899 selling price you'll receive £1685.60 back from Amazon. That includes the postage they will give you and the VAT they charge..0

Thanks that's very correct. It comes as 1751 as final payment.
Depending on how much selling history you have with Amazon they may hold your funds for a while- or even restrict you from selling a high cost item.
Also, make sure you have a courier lined up before you sell- so many couriers do not cover laptops fully insured- so make sure that is all in place first.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Amazon give you a chance to put in tracking, so if they do hold funds, they should be released on receipt.Depending on how much selling history you have with Amazon they may hold your funds for a while- or even restrict you from selling a high cost item.

I've only ever sold one laptop, so wouldn't know about couriers..0 -

I would be careful selling something that valuable online, it is the sort of thing that is going to attract scam artists and thieves. I don't know how well Amazon protect sellers, but if I were selling it, I would prefer to sell it locally and get cash. Even if that ment a lower price.0 -
Not only because I think Amazon is relatively safe to sell on, I don't know that getting £1500 cash is a safe alternative. I'd much rather sell online and use the protections that are in place.I would be careful selling something that valuable online, it is the sort of thing that is going to attract scam artists and thieves.
