where do I turn water off?

Trying to change a bathroom sink upstairs. We can turn cold water off or the downstairs kitchen sink in the kitchen but where would we turn off the bathroom cold water?

Look under the bathroom sink, if it is fairly new there should be a small valve on the cold water pipe & the hot water pipe.

If its an old sink there may not be valves on the pipes.
If not turn off the main cold water stop tap, turn on a downstairs cold tap & let the water stop running then turn on the upstairs sink cold tap until that stops runnimg.
Dont forget that you will also need to turn off your hot water as well !!

There should be an isolating valve in the pipe leading to the tap. If not other options would be check if there is a header tank with an isolating valve in the loft, use a pipe freezing kit, or turn off at the main stopcock and drain down the system

If there is no isolating valve, then fit one whilst the water is off.

We found a valve in the loft at the cold water storage tank. Dont have the parts to fit a valve in the bathroom just now but thanks for the advice.

Dont forget after turning off the valve to turn the sink tap off to drain off the water from the pipes.
