Where to get correct sized hinges for my fridge door?

Hi Folks

The hinges on my fridge door need replacing. I contacted the supplier who said they will cost £62 each, although the entire in built fridge cost me less than £200 !

Surely, there must be other places where I could get them cheaper? However, when I have looked online, the website usually shows the dimensions of the hinges. I have no idea of the dimensions of the hinges that I already have. The only way to find out would probably be by unscrewing one of the hinges from the door and actually measuring it.

Has anybody got a better solution?

Thanks.

No you will have to do that.

    Thanks for your quick response.

Why so you say that I have to do that?

Won't it be possible to get them cheaper elsewhere?
  • Best thing I can think of is ask a scrap man if you see one. They always have fridges on the vans offer him £5-£10 and he will most probably keep fetching you fridges until you get the right hinge.

There's loads of websites selling spare parts for appliances, have a look on some of those, you may find the part cheaper or even a generic equivalent part for less.

Puzzles me as to why you think the hinges need replacing ???
In all the years of owning fridges / freezers etc I have never ever had the hinges fail !!
What is the actual problem with them ??

Can you post pictures of the hinges.

Is it the fridge hinges or the decor door hinges that have failed?

Hinges on integrated fridges are often very simple, usually little more than two projecting studs top and bottom fixed into holes in metal plates top and bottom.

The fridge door is then attached along the opening side on sliders to the decor door.

However some integrated fridges use more complex hinge arrangements.

Hinges for decor doors are very cheap. Screwfix do decent ones for under £5 a pair. Ditto many other hardware suppliers.

    £62 a hinge is madness.
