old iPod, new computer

Morning team!

As the title suggests, I would like to download iTunes onto a new laptop and sync my iPod to it and load a few new CDs onto it.

I have hundreds of CD's on my iPod with about 10 percent iTunes downloads.

Have googled this and it seems overly complicated...

I really wouldn't want to have to spend weeks installing hundreds of CDs again?!

Don't be afraid to talk to me like I'm stupid... With computery things, I am!

one way you could do it is via iTunes match it costs £25 a year and matches all music (discs and cloud) - what it does not match it uploads, add that whilst have old computer then upload all music to the iTunes match cloud, and then pull it back from the cloud on new computer.

There are also ways of turning the iPod into a disc itself so to speak and copy from iPod to computer, but think this depends upon which iPod you have.

You also can move the music via an external disc drive if you have one.

Have a google for yamipod - it can manage your iPod instead of iTunes.
Get the tunes off the iPod using that, install iTunes, get the music into there, plug your iPod in, iTunes will pick it up, let it wipe it, and sync with your 'new' library.
Your computer is meant to be where you store your master collection of music, not an iPod.

    Easy solution to this.

Copy all of your music from your old computer onto your new computer. Install iTunes. Direct iTunes to add all of the music you've just copied across. Sync iPod. Job done :)

Sorry mrochester - that is of course the best way, as I hinted in my last line, but I'm assuming the previous computer is no longer available....

The OP could also just copy their backed up copies of their music from their backup drive.
