About to paint a large amount of skirting and door frames etc

Options
Hi

Be coming to the end of my house renovation in a few weeks and I then need to do the painting!!

Already done:
Painted three rooms.

To do:
Paint the door frames and skirting in several rooms, and the doors.

Doors are new oak 4panel veneer fire doors, will be painted with 2 coats of ronseal hardgloss, finely sanded between each coat.

The door frames will be old frames newly stripped and sanded/ filled (Some of the architraves will be replaced too)

Some of the skirtings have been replaced too.

So a mixture of old and new/ bare wood. I plan to paint the wood with dark brown gloss. I plan to lightly sand the parts that are already painted.
The bare wood will recieve a coat of white undercoat.

Then 2 coats of the final gloss dark brown paint.

Do I need to do any thing else? Do I need a primer?
Thx all

I have discovered frog tape ..It is now one of the few things I won't scrimp on.
Changes the job you are going to be doing entirely.

Can't say I like the sound of dark brown gloss, but each to their own!

If you have bare untreated wood you'll want stain block primer to stop the knots showing through.

Think roller not always a brush.

I use knotting solution. Seems to work.

    Plus one for knotting.

The doors are oak veneer, they won't have "knots".

    Skirtings, yes as advised above.

But to echo, dark brown gloss???:huh::huh::think::naughty:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
