Hi
I sold my used iPhone 4 on facebook selling page in September. I sold the phone with a 4 week warranty. I got a call today to say that the phone had melted. It was put away for a Christmas present. I'm I liable for anything. This was my phone for 2 years and worked perfectly when I had it

Were to selling in the course of a business? If not then you are not liable for anything unless you knowingly misdescribed the phone in the advert. You didn't even need to give a 4 week warranty.0

It was a private sale0

Not your problem.0

Private sale, and way past the (very strange) 4 week waranty you offered.
Ignore them or tell them to contact apple.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Private sale - a 4 week warranty...

Me being the cynic that I am would interpret it slightly differently.
I would think that the iPhone was bought as a present but on Christmas day the recipient of the phone either didn't want a used one or received a new or newer phone from someone else and the OP's buyer decided to damage the phone they bought to try to get a refund.0 -

To be fair to the OP, whenever I sell any electric gods I always give a guarantee of a couple of weeks as I wouldn't want to feel someone has been conned.0
