MP3 players

My wife wants an MP3 player
She has tried "petrol station £10 cheapies" and was not impressed with the controls
So we are now considering an Apple Ipod Shuffle - but I am unsure whether a shuffle allows MP3's from any source other than the Apple store - can someone please confirm and also are there better alternatives (at a similar price of around £45) ?

Does your wife have a smartphone? Many have MP3 capability that will near match the ipod .
there are some Philips units within the budget.

Depends on the phone owned, as it doesn't need to be a smartphone, even my old Ericson K750 played mp3, oh the apple will play regular mp3 well at least my ipod touch does.

I believe you, whichever player you/she ends up with, may be good to upgrade the headphones, often the headphones are the weakest chain in the link.
  • Bought my ikkle un one of the ipod shuffle clones. Its working well. OK its
not upto ipod standards (touchscreen isnt that sensitive) but at less than £20
    its a bargain.

I've got one of the non-expandable ones and am very pleased with it, too.
  • Another vote here for the Sansa Clip. Neat little thing it is.
