Barclaycards

Just a bit of curiosity on my part really. Bcard sent me some stuff promoting some of their other cards and inviting me to apply. Some of the latest offers on them, I would not mind taking advantage of.

However I was under the impression that you could only hold 1 of their Platinum range and 1 Freedom Rewards card, both of which I currently have.

Does anyone know if I am right with this? So it is just BCard randomly sending out promorional stuff or can you hold more than 1 Platinum card?

  • the anserw varies, I hold 2 platinum cards, a advisor on the phone told me he had seen account holders with 4 and 5 cards before, ring them or apply online if you want another card, I take it the 35 month 0% is appealing to you lol
  • I think you can have more than one platinum card, but you only get the benefits (i.e. 30 months 0%) on one.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

It's the 0% purchase offers that attract me, I save the money I would spend in a 5% account and repay it at the end of the offer. Either that or sometimes do it using the money transfer offers. It doesn't make a fortune but what does these days.

A few years ago I had all sorts of financial problems and it is nice now knowing I can make credit work for me and make a few quid instead of paying pounds and pounds in interest all the time!

If you're planning to start stoozing, just make sure you don't fall back into the debt trap again :)

Absolutely no chance of that ever happening again, I haven't paid a penny in interest ever since I turned myself around over 3 years ago now. I will not spend beyond what I know I can repay at the end of the month.

i think 0% on purchases for 14 months is there longest, is that right?

there are better deals around: Yorkshire Bank, MBNA, Santander...

but you might be able to get Barclaycard to move existing limit across to a new account, so might make sense to go with the best deal you can get from Barclaycard.

    good luck.
