We're buying my mum in law a tablet. The ONLY thing she will use it for is Skype and Viber and sending her pictures. she has NO interest int he internet, in browsing, in watching films, playing games etc. she currently uses a small ipod for facetime but most of us have moved away from iPhone so we want to switch her to Skype. There are numerous offers around at the moment but I wonder if anyone with more knowledge than me could suggest which one of these was the best value

Why not just use Skype on the iPod?0

Well she's having problems seeing it properly on the ipod and we thought if we got her a tablet and there wasn't the option of facetime, it would get her less confused. (She IS 86!)There will always be:

I haven't looked at your list of tablets but I will tell you I've had 2 budget tablets,a Sumvision and a Hudl 1 and neither were any good for skype because the cameras were rubbish in low light conditions,ie indoors.
I doubt you'll find a good camera on a cheap tablet0 -
How about a Windows tablet seeing as Skype is going to be the most used function?

£59.99
Has front and rear cameras although I haven't seen it in the flesh so can't comment on the quality. Probably no worse than sub £100 Android tablets anyway. Just checked the Windows App store, Viber is there also0 -
Got a Hudl 2 for Christmas, skyped folks already & yippee cheap with deal vouchers.
Plus very simple to use for Gran.0
