Does it have anything like 'analytical constituents' on it? The protein figure is likely to be around 8%ish and the moisture 80%ish which means the dry matter figure is in mid 40%ish.
I've found a chart online indicating that 'ALDI Ko-kra' is relatively low in protein but that was from 2010 and when I googled it seems Aldi do VitaCat nowadays so not sure if that's the same thing
Good to hear it's palatable although luckily my cat isn't fussy, unless you offer him a fresh prawn in which case he looks horrified and dashes off! He's rather fond of tinsel though, having supplemented his dinner tonight with a few morsels
Thanks for the Lidl info barbiedoll - I'm a bit of a cat food hoarder and tend to buy 3 months supply at a time so the idea of it being out of stock a lot frightens me :rotfl:
it isn't on the pouches but the box states the 'Protein content' is 10%. with moisture being 80%. I also forgot to say that I feed two pouches a day - one normal size and one mini and cat has dry food down constantly.
I haven't Seen 'Ko-Kra'. Aldi do two different types of pouches but my cat will only eat the Specially Selected one!0 -

Thanks so much, that works out to 50% protein on a dry matter basis so too high unfortunately.
Is the 'specially selected' one you have any of these?

When I was young - 1950's- our cats were fed on 'scraps' from the fish man.
Heads and innards kept in an enamel pail in the back of the van. A handful wrapped in newspaper was 6d. That lasted a week.
the first tins of KiteKat arrived with us in the late 50's early 60's.0 -
My gran used to feed her cat on whiting which was so cheap that it was only really used as cat food.
Of course, now it is a "sustainable" fish and used in fish fingers and so on.
My cat's favourite food appears to be moths, flies and lately, worms. I'm not sure if that's a good thing but I guess cats, like the rest of us, are used to eating a much more highly processed diet nowadays.
OP, I thought that your cat obviously had a medical condition, I doubt that anyone who just wants to "pamper" their pets, would consider Aldi/Lidl food. Although I don't know why not, it appears to be very popular!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Well i think my cat watches tv and is very high maintenance he was a stray when I got him he was grateful to fed then gradually he moved up the expensive ranks of cat food. Now if I am am lucky he will eat gourmet or just starve if i buy wiskers, felix or god forbid supermarkets brand. I swear when a new improved food is shown on TV he doesn't eat until I buy it. I truly believe i have found the master race0

this, and some parts of following posts, is unfortunately incorrect;
dogs have owners, cats have staff
Unless of course you're talking about my beagle and then he has two members of staff to call upon for his every need lol!
(I mean how many people do you know chose their kennels on the basis they could have facebook pictures of their dog on a daily basis??)0 -
Hills do a low protein wet food for kidney disease, unfortunately it contains both sugar and unsuitable carbohydrates like wheat.0
