Current account with bad credit

Can anyone advise of a bank that will issue a current account to someone with a 'not bad' credit history but not good either.

Currently with barclays - the most unhelpful and over charging bank ever!

Overcharging for what? Any bank will charge you for your mistakes! Otherwise almost all current accoutns are free.

The charges were for an unpaid item which I understand, but I'm worried that this has affected my credit rating. Additionally, I have had poor customer service which caused problems when buying a property so no I am looking to switch

    Hi May

I have a terrible credit rating but the Halifax opened me a current account.

I did however at first open a Halifax Web Saver account to have my wages paid into but then within 3 weeks I had my full current account with them plus a generous overdraft facility :)

    Hope this helps

Most banks only ask for 3 months statements when you transfer so if you can keep your account running smoothly for the next 3 months you should be able to transfer to any other bank without difficulty. One bounced item should'nt do any damage to your credit rating.
