Hi I've recieved x2 parking fines from 2 different occasions recently. Both times were for over staying the allowed time, the first one was parking eye, I did overstay for about 2hrs. They want £100 by 2nd jan, ive missed paying the lesser amount of £60 as we were away in disney land for our Christmas trip. The 2nd I've recieved today from civil enforcement, for over staying 30 minuets, they also want £100 or £60 within 14 days.

I've read lots about them not been able to fine people etc and it been a scam. But think they can take you to tribunal? I'm also wondering as techniquely I was in the wrong as I did overstay the states time, just didn't notice Christmas shopping, kids etc

I've had a little look round the net for info but it's Christmas eve! And I don't want to be dealing with this today I want to enjoy it with my kids as I planned and it's really putting a downer on it I've waisted half the morning researching about these company's and what I should do!

If anyone would please be able to advise what I'm best to do, obviously is rarther not have to pay it but I don't fancy courts/tribunals etc and as I was in the wrong if I have to pay then I'll just have to suck it up and learn my lesson! Just to let you know the fine I've recived today was from a date before the 1st fine but they only just sent the notice through. So I havnt had a fine then gone and done the same thing again, they were the day behind and after each other! I certainly will be more observant of notices on car parks from now on!

I will really appreciate any help anyone can offer thanks.

They're relatively easy to deal with.

Appeal both of them independently, but say more or less the same thing.

    Dear xxxx

I am the registered keeper of vehicle AB12 XYZ and I confirm receipt of you parking charge notice to keeper dated XXth XX 2014.

I would like to challenge this as the registered keeper on the following basis:

    1. The sum sought is not representative of any losses suffered by either your company or the landowner.
    2. I have the firmly held belief that your contract with the landowner will not confer upon you the sufficient legal standing on the land to offer parking or pursue charges.

Please cancel this charge or send me the necessary code to appeal this to the independent appeals body.

    Yours,
    XXX

Then forget about it over Christmas.

When they inevitably reject these appeals in a couple of weeks then come back here for advice on how to easily get the tickets cancelled by appealing to POPLA.

    Relax, you won't pay anything.
    Je Suis Cecil.

they are not "fines" at all ! it wont have that word anywhere on them

just speculative invoices for perceived rule breaking

now please read the NEWBIES sticky thread near the top of this forum, and appeal them
  • Thank you very much for the replies I will read the newbies thread and send the letter. Thanks for your advice :-) and merry Christmas!
