Car insurance and heart monitor

Long story short, I went to the GP in November for a new inhaler, they did a blood pressure check it came back high (165 over 85) - although I was stressed with work.
Asked me to go back in December and it came back at 160 over 78 - although I went to the wrong building for that so had to run to the right one in order to make the appointment.
They suggested I wear a heart monitor for 24 hours in Janaury but the letter says I should inform my car insurance company I will bewearing it during that time.
Is that really necessary?
Im 30, not overweight, go to the gym a few times a week and in general am fine. I dont doubt my blood pressure is on the higher side of normal but I dont think it is "high".

Well if they have told you to do this then yes, it is necessary.
If you have an accident for any reason during that time and they ask for medical reports...... well
we all know what insurance companies are like....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
They have not said I have to, not recommended. Just suggested.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. depends whether you are wearing a 24 hr BP monitor or a 24 hr ECG monitor - the former is far more distracting, as the cuff could start inflating while you are driving0

Haha, so im going to be sat watching a bit of Corrie or something and all of a sudden have one arm like Arnie?
Its making me think of only fools and horses where they have them blow up dolls and all you can hear is them inflating in the background.
If my car insurance people tell me I cant drive then its hardly going to be a normal day is it. It will mean I either have to sit in or wait for a train or a bus - neither of which I do on an average day.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Who at the GPs told you to do this?
In the insurer's I've dealt with the system only allowed for noting of if you had a DVLA notifiable condition, if you had notified them or not and if you had what their response had been.
Looking at https://www.gov.uk/current-medical-guidelines-dvla-guidance-for-professionals-conditions-g-to-i then hypertention is not a notifiable condition for cars/ bikes unless the meds you are taking have sideeffects0 -
It was in the same letter that confirms when my appointment is.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
