Write-off - who can I negotiate with?

Hi,

My car was recently involved in a rear-end shunt and the other party hasn't contested liability.

We have insurance through First Central, who have passed our car over to Incident Management Solutions and we've been issued with a courtesy car which we've had for a few days.

Our car is an 06 Mazda6 estate so I thought there was a chance it would be written off and we've just received a letter saying that this is the case and the offer to us is £1,780.

Looking at other advertisements and the free online valuers (CAP, Glasses and Parkers) it seems to me that it would cost me around £2,300 to buy the same car of similar age/mileage but I'm confused about what to do next.

As the other party's insurer is paying out do I go to them directly to negotiate or do I negotiate with IM Solutions or complain to First Central?

Any tips would be gratefully received!

Thanks.

It sounds like you're claiming from your own insurance, who have passed it to IMS to deal with. So you're negotiating with them. The fact that the other person's insurer is then footing their bill doesn't affect you.
  • Thanks for the advice. I'll try going back to IMS in the first instance.

You've wasted your insurance company an awful lot of money.

If you are hit by someone else and they do not dispute liability, this is the way to deal with it.

Tell your own insurance company that the call is for information only.

Deal direct with third party insurance, they will tell you to take it for a quote, they will instruct garage to mend your car, sort you a courtesy car out. Instruct you to take your car for repair, then pick it up when repaired, insurance company pays the garage direct.

    Job Done......
No excess mess about, no money to Claims management company, this is money for old rope for them in a non disputed accident, they are laughing all the way to the bank.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
