HTML email Newsletter - what to use?

Hi all,

I am looking for some advice on the best program/website to use for an email newsletter.

I already have my subscribers list which are members of a club, so it is not a case of it being a marketing newsletter as such, more an information about services and offers.

Any advice?

Thanks

    I use http://mailchimp.com/

Send 12,000 emails to 2,000 subscribers for free. No contracts, and no credit card required. It’s free forever.

You could use aweber or getresponse.

I work in digital marketing and develop emails to promote titles from a number of government or arms length bodies.

I'd recommend MailChimp if your list isn't that large. It's possibly been updated since the last time you used.

I actually prefer Campaign Monitor though. £5 per campaign and 1p per recipient, but very user friendly and with excellent support.

The trouble is that if you are struggling with Mailchip then the other professional tools out there are going to baffle you too, really Mailchimp is about as simple as you are going to get while retaining the deliverablity of a professional system.

With the pro tools you are really paying for the reporting and the delivery rate to inboxes rather than the spam filters.

Mailchimp takes a bit of getting used to and you have their branding if you use the free option. Im actually finding GetResponse to be a bit harder to master but I think its more a case of me not spending the time.

It all depends on your needs but seeing its not for marketing purposes I would use Mailchimp as it offers good value and the learning curve isnt that bad. Their online material is pretty good if you do have any queries. I just usually Google my queries.

This is quite easy on a Mac. Compose the HTML file in any editor of your choice and save it. Now open it in "Safari" and press [cmd]. The page will appear in Apple "Mail" ready to send!

Alternatively, have you considered creating your newsletter in any word processor, saving it as a PDF and sending it as an email attachment?

And, finally, the best way to "send" a newsletter is to create it as a web page, upload it to your web site then email JUST the page URL to all recipients to click on. That way you aren't overloading their inbox AND you are creating an archive of newsletters that is available to all and attractive to Google search engine.
