Solid wood flooring not the best, engineered is better, and carpets are the best. Underfloor heating is needed for the UK or very good underlayment for the next best, though you will still need rugs for the winter.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

In this image its clear that he was only trying to fill the gaps.
Well since this was my first house I did not know nothing about how things should be done and now I cant do much except do things on my own slowly as I am not very competent diyer but learning a lot from the forum and videos.
I removed the beading and the flooring is right up to the edge/wall so there is no expansion cork laid in the end or any space left.
I have already spent a lot of money buying this flooring so do not want to throw it away, I thought it will last me for 5 to 7 years one but I sometimes think it might not have been the best decision I made but well we learn from mistakes. Getting a cowboy builder certainly did not help as he could say whatever he wanted to and I would most of the times take his word for it as I did not know anything about building and he was a builder for 40 years that is what he said.0 -
Hi
Well it's been horrible as he did reskim the whole house and in less than a year it's all cracked up.
The flooring was left in the room for almost 6 weeks as the job he was supposed to finish in 4 weeks he did not finish in 16 to 18 after which I got so irritated I kicked him out.
Well I am doing dpc these holidays and as far as flooring is concerned I would have to take it out and check what's under the floorboards and joists but I just wanted to know what is the normal procedure so once I start it I know I am doing it or getting it done correctly.
The flooring was laid as it is in the pictures, if you see closely in a lot of places he's just filled up the gaps with some crap I don't remember what it was. He completely ruined the skimming electrics plumbing flooring everything and I am doing things on my own slowly every week when I get time. He could nott even get the painting work right which I did on my own in a much better way I guess.
He didnt seal the walls before skimming. he should have used PVA - what a cowboy
It sounds like he acclimitised the boards correctly (If only because he was such a disorganised git) but by letting them acclimatise while the house was being skimmed and painted, the amount of water in the air means the boards probably GAINED lots of moisture insteadof losing it.... cowboy
To give a sense of perspective ive just had 1 medium sized room fully skimmed, and three small rooms/ areas skimmed in my house and even with the dehimidifier on full time, certain windows steamed up for a couple weeks after, and one of my doors would not shut.
Terrible thing, condensation/ moisture0 -
Either get the room re-floorboarded or get plywood sheeting screwed down over the existing floorboards.0

You simply can't say that.
First, define best.
Second factor in choice
Thirdly take into mind warmth, insulation, durability, re-finishing ability, ad infinitum, then say which is "best"I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
