So one case from millions has been successfully taken to court. It is hardly grounds for advising people they can be sued for making a complaint without full details
One case shows that it CAN happen.

And I have seen an adviser told to compensate a consumer for saying that something was zero risk when it was actually an extremely low risk which subsequently became reality.

    So the risk is there.

It is also ONE case out of the ONE that has been taken to court.

Does anyone else think that this whole PPI compensation bandwagon should be closed down? The problem is there are too many nuisance phone calls from companies trying to get PPI claims for you.

I have never had PPI, or loans, apart from 30 years ago which would be too old to consider. I had a mortgage so the very persuasive PPI claim chap persuaded me to start talking about making a claim. After a pause, I thought why not just check it myself, so a quick email to my mortgage company got a response that I had no PPI, issue closed.
But I then got endless PPI calls, some silent calls as well, which got very annoying. Personally I think people have had long enough to claim and the door should be shut now.

Annoying as the calls are, people were miss-sold and have the right to get that money back, the problem is that with the banks auto-paying and just paying out on loads to clear the backlog, it was inevitable that the PPI industry would spring up as people saw a quick buck by taking advantage of the situation, it'll die down given all the publicity and how many claims have paid out, just register on TPS and send any spam texts to 7726 (or whatever your operator uses to report spam)

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Already registered on TPS, didn't help much.
My main point was this PPI claiming has now gone on for nearly 4 years, surely that's enough time in which to decide if you want to make a claim or not.

Far more than 4 years as well, I worked at one of the large banks in 2008 that was getting thousands of complaints a month. A lot of banks are trying to close this down and have been writing out to customers with PPI and if no response within 3 years then it will be time barred/jog on. I would imagine in another 2-3 years it will be almost dead.
