WimPen timeshare cancellation HELP!!!

I'm hoping (as I'm desperate!) someone on here can help/advise. Basically my mum and dad bought a timeshare in Tenerife around 25 years ago (never actually wanted it but obviously got caught by a very good salesman). My dad passed away just over a year ago and since then my mum has wanted rid of it. Emailed WimPen and told we can't simply cancel it as now there is only 1 owner it seems there's a long costly process to go through which will cost £4-6,000! I'm really hoping there's another easier and cheaper route/option? Appreciate any help any of you can give. Thanks, Glen.

Hi Glen, I am in a similar situation to yourself. Did you ever get this resolved?

Hi, I just saw your message, changes to the law in Spain relating to Timeshare mean in perpetuity contracts are invalid, if you go into Google and search for Timesharetalk you can view lots of information on relinquishing your ownership. Don't despair and don't get scammed by the so called Timeshare Exit Companies, you should be able to just give the timeshare back but they will try to charge you a lot of money to exit but stand your ground. I have done this with another Company and I no longer get sent any bills or have any contact from them. Good luck.

Theres some really useful information and links on Athena Law website. They have a specialist timeshare solicitor, Stephen Boyd, ive heard him on the radio a few times discussing the danger of falling prey to the scam companies. Hes been on Radio 5 and was on Talk radio yesterday. His website says that he does a fixed fee exit service.
  • Stephen Boyd is a contributor to the Timeshare Talk Website that I mentioned, there are also other very experienced contributors who helped me out, you don't always have to pay exit fees so bear this in mind. There is also a Spanish lawyer who is very good and is a great source of information.
