Halifax Insurance Incompetence

I got a letter from Halifax Insurance claiming I was in arrears with my home insurance. On phoning them up, the guy claimed I hadnt paid for the insurance taken out in Feb. I queried why it had taken 8 months for them to work this out and he claimed they had thousands of customers so some were bound to slip through!
He then went on to claim that my DD details were probably incorrect - they werent. Basically they simply hadnt taken the money out of my acc for 8 months and he was generous enough to say it "probably isnt all your fault" ! Then offered me a deal to pay half now and the rest over 4 months.
Of course I turned this down and would only pay 4 equal installments. Im now seething as he made every effort not to admit they screwed up!!! He finally admitted that they had only found this debt after an overhaul of their systems, so watch out, you may be getting a letter soon
