AA Vehicle Inspection or MOT to have a potential car purchase checked out?
i think the salesman offers good advice. Get it MOT'd (by a garage of your choice) with the garage agreeing to fix any faults found.
Then check all non MOT'able items yourself (rev counter, radio working, speedo, windows, spare tyre etc etc). not hard to do.
i got AA to do a check many years ago. They advised me not to by the car as it was good but in average condition. I ignored the advice on the basis it was roadworthy and a good deal overall for me. It turned out it was infact one of the best cars i ever bought and was no problem.
