If you still had it the address to send these things to is: spoof@paypal.com

I logged into paypal account the other day and it said I had to check and update my home telephone number so maybe this was actually something to do with that? I didn't receive an e-mail though, just a message when logging into paypal.

Just an idea guys.... this is what I do on ebay!

eBay account uses one e-mail address.

Paypal account uses a different e-mail address.

Only people that I have dealt with via ebay have my Paypal e-mail address.

If I get a scam e-mail from Paypal, it is usually sent to the wrong address. This way I know that it is a scam and report it.

If I get a scam e-mail to the correct address, I always tell Paypal that it must be someone that has paid me, or someone that I have bought something from myself.

Once you have updated your account records, your PayPal session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal.

That kind of garbled language would stop me doing whatever they're asking....

All Paypal emails will greet you by your first and last names.
Any Paypal emails starting by Dear Paypal member and the like are phishing emails.
Forward all similar emails to spoof@paypal.com and you should have an email back confirming that it was not sent by them.
Beware, once I had one of them, I kept getting them for a few months, then it stopped.
• sav4it, this is a fake as others have said. I've had the same email phishing for my personal details. Send as suggested above to spoof@paypal.com

Please don't post links to spoof paypal sites. I'm sure most people are savvy enough not to click them, but you never know...

I think it is time to change your e-mail address. ;)

can i just point out (and i dont in anyway mean this against anyone who has posted a link) but when it comes to ebay and paypal or any other link anywhere that would lead you to a log in page, never follow it. theres no guarantee that it leads to a genuine page, after all these spoof mails that are trying to get your log in details all use a link to take you to a sight you think is genuine but isnt,

i tend to use a few differnt forums for various reasons, and see many a link directly to an ebay item, either some one is bringing to the forums attention or is selling an item, so the possability does exist for someone to click the link say, decide they want to buy the item, click the buy it now, only to be presented with a log in page that COULD BE FAKE.

gary2 gave good advice but theres no guarantee the link takes you to paypal. afterall gary2 could be anyone. (just to illustrate)

i would encourage anyone who is ever likely to post a link to an ebay item for any reason Not to, just post the item number and advise people to paste it into the ebay search from the ebay homepage, its a good habit to get into.
