JSA - Can I claim if I resign due to anxiety/depression?

Wondering if anyone knows if I could apply and gain JSA whilst I look for a more suitable job role as my previous one, which I have left, caused me high levels of anxiety/stress.
(I worked 3 days, got signed off by GP for 2 weeks, decided to walk away as unable to fufil the role...)
I have seen my GP and he has refered me to the WellHealth team in my county and has issued medication for the anxiety/depression. I am due to start some support sessions from Feb and am feeling alot more positive about myself but just wondered in the short term if I would qualify for some £££ support. (have been in work F/T) for last 12-15 years!)

If you want to claim JSA then it seems from your post that you would be eligible for contribution based JSA (savings and partner's income not taken into account)
Leaving a job voluntarily means that you may be sanctioned or at least investigated.
Here is a link about sanctions and good reason for voluntarily leaving your job.
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/373189/dmgch34.pdf
34200 onwards with particular regard to 34236 onwards.
A list of your medication and a doctor's letter would help.
However, if your doctor is willing to issue a fit note for 3 months then you might want to apply for ESA. (no sanctions for leaving employment voluntarily)
Certainly you cannot claim JSA with a fit note but you can ask to see a disability advisor if you wish to seek employment.0 -
I will be working with the support offered but I will be looking to return to work in a more suitable role, as being off work could lead to further anxiety etc...0

if you claim JSA then you will be expected to sign a job seeking agreement committing you to search for work. As I said you may be able to see a disability advisor if your Job Centre still offers this service.
What does your doctor say about this?0
