don't know, could be a bug, could be a restriction for freebie, or could be malware stopping it, try some of the other scanners in the malware sticky thread.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
  • Hi, my first post but sounds like you have a trial version that has certain features that expire once you have had it for say 90 days. They disable basic stuff so that you actually have to buy another subscription. Personally, I wouldn't bother with it and would recommend better packages out there for the money. Hope this helps.

I use the CA package on all of the PCs at home, and have never had any issues.
It detected and cleared a virus that was sent by a workmates PC (A few people were infected by this, but the 2 of us running CA were fine)

The renewal this year for the complete suite was under £17.00.

Well worth it in my experience, but each to their own prefered products.

** In reply to original question, I have seen this on the odd occasion and a reboot has always sorted it out.
  • I've had it for 18 months now and I've had no problems at all.

It's picked up a few things in that time too.

They don't charge for you updating the product (i.e. you can always have the latest version), only for renewing your license.

    Butlers -

What product version and AV version do you use? Has your license expired?
    Dave.
  • Have you tried unistalling it and then re installing it.

As previously stated visit an online scanner for a double check.

Kaspersky and or Nod32 should do the trick

Had the same on a customers PC. Boot in safe mode (F8 as it loads) and run antivirus and anti-spyware from there.

I use the free version of Kaspersky (Active Virus Shield), which I'm very happy with.
