Epson - Unreasonable error

I have an Epson CX3650 all in one and the printer has just stopped working
I get the error message "parts of your printer have come to the end of their working life" yet mechanically it appears ok
Does anyone know if their are any fixes for this problem.
This is not the first time I have encountered this with Epson
I feel sure that it still has some mileage left in it.
I'm wondering if its not one of those commercial tricks to push you into buying a new one. It's as though something is set up in the works to cause this to happen
Its only around 2 and a half years old and cost iover £75.00, I dont think this is acceptable.
