Planning for debt

Hi
Well done for making the right moves.
Did anyone mention the snowball?
That allows you to work out th best way to use any extra money and cut your debt most effetively. www.whatsitcost.comIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hiya, I'm really impressed that you are thinking ahead like this!:T
My hubby gets DLA and that pays for his car. Even as you already own a car outright you should qualify for a monthly payment to help with running costs. I'm a former nurse and applied loads of times for patients as well as hubby - definately appeal and stress all the things he can't do, like use public transport, stand for any length of time, do housework. My husband got really depressed when I did this for him as it made him feel useless because I was putting down all the negatives, but it has to be done! Give it a go.0 -
Sorry, just read your last comment again and realise you now have got the DLA!!! Well done!
I struggle with my food bill too. I don't know how people on here feed their families on so little, but meal planning does help. I no longer nip out for a takeaway because there is nothing in. As Tesco says 'Every Little Helps'!0 -
Just in to remind myself to keep going.
Still surviving on half pay but this means i am no longer making much beyond the minimum payments to credit cards but then again not using them either.
Learning to cut back on the food and to waste less.
Thanks to this site and the support of those who answer i am now much more focused on getting rid of debt but equally i am more anxious now about it--ho hum
So far all our bills remain up to date but we got a few bank charges cos the money was not in on time from benefits to cover 3 direct debits---just another hole to dig out of.0 -
I am not sure why some people seem to get advice and really good welcomes compared to others.
Sorry to say i feel one of the---cant be bothered with you --ones.
Having said that i am going to keep trying to make this work.
After saying the other day there that we were managing we have run into a wall today.
The DWP have still not paid out any incapacity benefit--claimed on the 14th of Sept. and the bank is empty.
I just about have enough food in the cupboard but nothing my autistic son will eat.
Had paid by debit card 4 days ago for a £9 item and got a letter in for £30 of charges today---had thought there was enough in the bank.
By the end of the week my sons swiming £46 has to be paid and it is my 2yr olds 3rd birthday on Friday.--She is currently being assessed for autism also.
Hubs car failed its MOT and that was £300 to sort last week--but the good bit is he now has high rate mobility so when the road tax is due at the end of the month we will not have to pay this time.
Sorry if this sounds a bit woe is me. I do appreciate that my main bills are all paid and we are fortunate that way. I am just a bit low today and wonder why life gave me 2 beatiful but difficult kids and my husband had a serious accident that has left him very limited in his mobility.---Does not look like i will be back at work soon either as i have been signed off for another 3 mths.0 -
