    Still trying.
Appealed hubs DLA and got a letter this morning awarding high rate mobility and low care for 3 yrs---Great news
Doing okay with the shopping--no huge cuts but just a bit more caution.

car boot next sun --so see how that goes.
Small steady steps--but feeling more optimistic about getting there.

Good news with hubby's DLA letter. That should help things a bit. Small steps are the way to go! And they all add up! Good luck!

    Hi Calamity :hello:

Glad things are going better for you - one thing I wondered though, you mentioned union fees in your SoA - is this for you or your OH? If it's for you then check to see if you're entitled to anything going on long-term sick leave (even if it's just a reduction in the monthly subs it will help!)

Oh, and if your OH is getting approved for DLA then check to see if you can get Carer's allowance for him too - with the mobility at high rate then I would have thought you should.

Union fees are OH's--prison service and also fund the widowers payments --so not really negotiable
Mine are peanuts in comparison and are pro-rata at source so as my wages drop so will they.

Still thinking about asking for a 3 mth mortgage payment holiday to mop up all the other debts--not sure--any views welcome

You would need to have an award for middle or high rate care to be able to claim Carers allowance

have you though about switching to virgin media insteasd of sky? you can get tv, broadband and phone for £30 per month: http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/product.do?id=11039

you probably should talk to your mortgage people, see if it would cost you any more in the long run, what you'd be entitled to etc
Good luck with sorting it all out!

Just a wee update to let you know that i am keeping the faith and hanging on in here.
I am now on half pay but thankfully due to OH getting his DLA and getting half pay topped up with incapacity benefit--which i did not know would happen--we are managing ok:wink:
Have knocked £400 off the debenhams credit card with DLA back money and did a car boot at the weekend and made £50 to cover the cost of my hotel for an overnight away on Saturday.
Still struggling to get the shopping bill down --but persevering.
Nothing major yet in terms of dealing with the debts but at least in the right mind set now and being more aware.
