Story:
DS2 driving my car gets hit on roundabout (woman cut him up).
She pulls over and gives name and number, him likewise.
Damage to the wing above wheel arch which was bubbly rusty to start with etc. My car really isn't worth very much and the dent etc doesn't impact on the driving of the vehicle. Its a small dent with lots of black bumper and creamy car paint over/around it.
Questions/advice:
1. Assuming she admits liability (she did at scene to son) and we claim on her insurance will this impact on my insurance and more importantly my son's future policies?
2. If I go through her insurer, do I have to notify my insurer and will it be classed as a no liability claim in the future?
3. IMO as the claim for my car's repairs is likely to be more than the value of my vehicle, is there a chance my car will be written off - which I don't want to happen?
Not sure whether to contact the woman or just leave it?
Opinions and advice gratefully received.

1) What was said at the scene may differ later on. I found that notification full recovery on the policy does not appear to affect the next premium.
2) Yes you should notify your insurer whether you wish to pursue a claim through them or not.
3) Depending on the damage, the vehicle maybe deemed beyond economical repair.
PS advise DS2 that whilst driving assume everyone else on the road is an idiot and to make allowances for them. Best way to deal with accidents is to avoid them0 -

I have told him this time and time again. I have also told him that although there maybe lane markings and signs, just imagine no one else can see them!0
