Hi all,
I'm after some basic CD burning software. Just want it burn CD/DVD to CD and extract music from DVD/MP3 to CD. It's a minefield out there and don't want any fancy, complicated or software that does far more than I want it to.
Is Nero 7 my best bet? If so, which version would meet my needs best, without going "over the top" on what it can do?
Many thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

For Burning I use Deep Burner - http://filehippo.com/download_deepburner/ and for ripping CD's to Mp3 I use Windows Media Player...
I am sure others will have alternatives :rolleyes:0 -
If you'd like a free 'commercial' one...
First get a free code for Ashampoo® Burning Studio 2007* from their website. If you're able to get this I can send you a copy of their program (8-9Mb). It can also rip CDs (& create/copy Blu-ray disks). Very good program, especially considering it's free. G

Another free alternative: CDBurnerXP Pro0 -
Try dvdfab platinum. copies just about anything with a few simple clicks.0

Can someone please tell me the difference between "ripping" and "burning" ... pretty ignorant about all these terms
Cheers,

ripping is extracting audio or video from a disc to a file on your PC. Burning is the reverse, i.e. creating a disc from a file on your PC.
Personally for ripping CD's I use FreeRip, then I use MP3gain to equalise the volume between different tracks and/or albums, then use Nero for burning. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

I second this one......I use it all the time. Much simpler than Roxio or Nero0 -
Strange ... I've installed and attempted to burn a CD with the Ashampoo burner, everything seemed fine, but there's no sound! Must be an incompatability issue somewhere?Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0

MimiJane, if you're using the older version, pm me if you'd like to try the newer 2007 version (I do not require your email address to send you the file).
I've not tried the older, & haven't had problems with the newer. G
P.S. Another free one I've only just come across: AVS Disc Creator0
