windows 7 product key

I've just redone my imac with windows 7 but cant find the product key. I only have 16 days left to find one.
I downloaded magical jellybean key-finder but the product key it finds is a default key, so does not work.
Any ideas or if anyone as a product key they can pm to me.

How did you buy Windows 7 in the first place? If through the Microsoft store, you might be able to recover the key from there.

Did you use the keyfinder before restoring or after? If after, I'm not surprised it can't find the key.

Lastly, don't be expecting anyone to PM you a legitimate product key, because these things cost money. You'll either have to find the original packaging or recover it through the online store.

I do have the Microsoft disc, I only realised I did not have the code after installing.
and yes I will probably have to buy a new keycode, but the purpose of this site is in the title Moneysaving, so No arm in asking first.Some one might have a disc with a few licences that have not used.

The disc and licences are 2 totally separate entities. People tend not to have 'a few licences' knocking about unused and as for discs I have around a dozen Windows 7 discs for various brands and also retail but they are no use without a licence key.

Unfortunately, the time to extract the key is before you reinstall....

However, if the Windows came with a computer, the key would typically be on a sticker on the computer.

(Yes I know the OP said iMac, but I'm talking about the origin of the Windows licence.)

If you do have to buy, you can get s/h Windows keys, either online or at computer fairs.
