Hi All
I have a VW Passat 06, 3 button electric key Fob and the unlock and boot open buttons work fine but the lock button does not work so i have to lock manually which is a pain as u have to take key hole cover off each time , I was wondering does anyone know where they repair them in Manchester area tried to have a look online but couldnt find anything.
Thanks

Before getting too involved , first try replacing the battery in the fob.Quite often this cures most problems ( even though the fob works on unlock )
If this does not work then another suggestion that has worked for others is to remove the fob battery...then short circuit the + and - on the small circuitboard
This often performs a reset.

I'd suggest just getting a new casing for the fob, I guess that the membrane for the opening has worn out.0 -
Some sellers on ebay will repair cheaply if you have a spare to use for a couple of days and you trust them to have access to your key and address...
A friend has done this and still has his car...0 -
Thanks for replys i just bought a new battery but still doesnt work and i have seen the ebay listings but i only have one key thats why i was looking for a garage or shop service0

I had the reverse problem with my 07 plate Focus, ie. it would lock but not unlock.
Rather than faff about, I got a new one from Timpsons.0 -

You buy the fob, then take them to a watch or mobile phone repairer, if you don't want to tackle it yourself, when you press the unlock button, does it feel different to the boot and lock button?0 -

How much did that set you back and did they reprogram the new key to the car ?0 -

yes you can feel the other buttons being pressed down and clicked but the lock but just kind of stays in same place
also the car i got also came with the cig lighter socket not working i replaced the fuse and still didnt work is the best thing to get a universal socket and take to a garage for them to fix it or should i take straight to garage to check it there is a more serious fault, but radio a/c working fine0 -

It's just the membrane inside, you can get replacements.
As for the 12v, without being elecrically trained then it requires someone with the know how to investigate, from what I recall the 12v has it's own fuse and cirtcuit, it maybe that the wire to the socket has been disconnected by someone before you got the car.0 -

£100.
They programmed the transponder (for the immobiliser) and cut the key, but you programme the key/fob yourself, using the ignition lock.0
