OK - After a marathon session with their helpdesk.
If you click ACCEPT or NO. and you get popup's thereafter. Here is what you can do.
Go to BT.COM - Click on MY BT.
Type in your telephone number - or your email address.
(In my case - it couldn't find my telephone number )
Then.... go through the routine of "Forgot my username" - and "forgot my password".... you will get email links to fix.
Then login.
You will be asked for your phone number.
Then you may get a message saying that there is no account associated with this phone number ( which is the reason for the pop up's continuing ).
Find your BT bill - and enter your account number.
Now.. continue browsing - until you get the popup - click "accept" or "no thanks" - whatever your choice - but this time it will it remember the decision - and you will get an email confirmation of your choice.0 -
Thank you very much for that, Troubleatmill.
The popups mysteriously started rearing their ugly heads again yesterday after a couple of weeks of abstinence, so I will give your method a go next time it happens.
I really think BT should be sorting this problem out - Ok I realise they have to offer the service, but it shouldn't be making the internet completely unusable, killing the web page and ignoring the fact that I actually HAVE already set it up!
The option to manage parental controls no longer even appears within 'My BT' but I can't face getting on the phone to Mumbai yet again.
I think when my contract is up, I'll switch providers.0 -
