- the boost should function in the non-E9 hours, and is manual, you are responsible for turning on and off
- the non-boost should function only in the E9 hours even if left on permanently for 24/365 days and should be automatic
Photograph your leccy meter and post it here please.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Where would the timer for this be located? Does the E7 meter have two different household electricity connections? One that is only turned on during economy periods? Or is there some kind of signal cable?
- timer - see here almost always by the water cylinder
- two connections - yes usually there are two sets of tails from the E-meter to the CU's
One set is exclusively to feed in cheap rate, the other day rate. There are differing methods, the older 'white meter' style wiring fed only 20a stored heat & water rings, the more modern post middle 80's wiring feed everything on all amperage rings. Many people are still on older meters and even older wiring set-ups. The meter shown above by 'curious_badger' for example is a 2x 20-100a meter meaning s/he can have 1x100a of leccy into either of the two grey tails but not 1x100a of leccy into both of the tails simultaneously.
Its always a bit difficult to answer a question on what feeds what when someone such as 'curious_badger' for example does not have a 'water controller'. Because one of the functions, if not the most important function of a water controller, is to make sure both top & bottom immersion elements can not be switched live at the same time. What happens in practice is as the meter goes to night rate the Horstmann will throw a double isolate in the water controller to make sure you can never accidentally switch on the timed 60 minute 'boost' function to the top immersion element at the same time as the cheap rate to the bottom immersion element.
Hope this helps both curious_badger & stator.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
