Italy snow...no skiing

Hi
I am looking to plan a family getaway next year. We're thinking Italy and a snowy chalet scene somewhere. Bit odd I know, however we're not skiiers and won't be doing any snow sports but want the snow chalet / cute snowy town / wintery walks / roaring fire type of holiday. We'll be travelling with a young baby.
Any ideas?

As a skier I'd have to say that for what you seem to be after you may be better looking at Austria. Off all the places I've skied it seems to be the best for the non ski related activities that you want.0

Switzerland is fantastic and caters well for non skiers. We particularly like Wengen; there's an open air ice rink, loads of well marked walks of various distances, a public transport system that is brilliant and amazing scenery.
The downside is that it is expensive but we saved money by going half board and making the most of the breakfast buffet rolls
