Transferring files from XP to Windows 8

I've just bitten the bullet and plumped for a new PC. After doing some research it seems the best way of transferring files for someone like myself from xp to windows 8 is with the windows easy transfer tool. However when I go on the microsoft website and click on the links I always end up with the windows 7 operating…

I agree that the external HD route is probably the simplest method.
Personally I like to start afresh with a new PC. My files are backed up on a NAS drive and an external HD so no need to transfer them to the new PC.

I did come across this not so long ago... Transfer From XP ...... I haven't used it, but there is a freephone number there if help is needed. Might be worth a look...
