Next account still open after closing!?

Arrgghhh Next!!

We've just recieved a letter from Next telling us all about the new catalogue, complete with our customer number on it.

However, we closed the account in June.

We closed it online by emailing them and recieved conformation that it had been done by an email back.

As we were worried we logged in to see if they hadn't closed it. And low and behold, yep still seems to be open. However, our credit limit before was £2000, it's now a whopping £5000  which they certainly didn't tell us about.

I've emailed them again stating that it should be closed (not with an ever increasing credit limit), and that I want written confirmation this time as I presume they're in breech of the Credit Agreement (or something similar).

Has anyone else had this problem - really don't want this extra credit sitting on our credit file.

Many thanks

  • Funny that, i had just checked my credit report about half an hour ago and seen my next account open again (did this once before too when i got a new card when old one expired) I have emailed them to tell them to close my account again. Absolute joke that this has happened twice to me now
  • Raise it as an official complaint - make them pay for your time checking your credit files - if they had to pay out for all mistakes like this they may well get it right first time.

It isn't a mistake, they're doing it on purpose!!!
  • Even more reason to make them pay.
